SMITHERS COMMUNITY HEALTH PLAN

Many people living in the Bulkley Valley enjoy outstanding quality of life. Surrounded by spectacular natural beauty, Smithers and Bulkley Valley offers world class recreational opportunities in vibrant community settings. Unfortunately, like many other Canadian communities, we also share a variety of health and social challenges. In fact, for those who do not possess resources that benefit health and quality of life, life in the North can be extremely difficult.  Over 100 community members, local health care and social service professionals were asked to prioritize pressing challenges to community health and to identify strategic actions to address these priority areas. This report is the summary of these insights and provides a pragmatic set of recommendations and actions to address health and quality of life challenges in Smithers and the Bulkley Valley in the next year.
